The next meeting of the Del Mar/Carmel Valley Democratic Club will be on August 13th and feature guest speaker Mike Aguirre. We will also be voting on Club endorsements for Brett Maxfield, Nick Leibham and Prop 4.
As per Mme Treasurer:
"Just wanted to give an early heads up about the next meeting of the Carmel Valley/Del Mar Democratic Club. It'll be Weds., Aug. 13 at good ol' Tio Leos in Carmel Valley (www.tioleos.com; it's behind the Hampton Inn, just N of the 56 and W of El Camino Real). Come for food and drinks at 6 p.m. (a $6 minimum per person), or just come for the meeting itself at 7 (we figure those who do eat will likely average out the per-person minimum for those who don't, and the 6 pm "pre-game" will make it mellower for those who want to eat/socialize)."

Nick Leibham Out Raises Brian Bilbray
Challenger Nick Leibham raised more money than Congressman Brian Bilbray in this fundraising quarter, according to FEC reports. Leibham raised $245,504 while Bilbray managed $210,315. The quarter spanned from April 1, 2008-June 31, 2008.
“Any time that you out raise an incumbent, especially someone like Brian Bilbray who has taken over $180,000 in campaign contributions from Big Oil, it gives the campaign a huge amount of momentum,” said Leibham. “This is the clearest sign yet that the voters of the 50th are ready for change and I’m honored that so many of them are willing to contribute to our effort.”
